AEW Dynamite Preview for February 5, 2020

What happened last week:

  • Jon Moxley challenged Chris Jericho to face him that night, but instead Jericho came out with the Inner Circle and some hired goons to attack Moxley. Security broke it up after Mox hit Ortiz.
  • The Young Bucks defeated the Butcher and the Blade. After the match, the Young Bucks were attacked by Butcher and the Blade before being saved by Kenny Omega and Adam Page.
  • Nyla Rose defeated Big Swole with the Beast Bomb.
  • Cody Rhodes defeated Kip Sabian with three Cross Rhodes.
  • Tony Schiavone interviewed Britt Baker who made fun of Jim Ross before claiming that she would own the Women’s division as the first woman signed and noted that she is there every week, unlike Riho.
  • SCU (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) defeated Hybrid2 (Jack Evans & Angelico) with the SCU Later. After the match, The Dark Order appeared to threaten Daniels and the rest of SCU.
  • PAC appeared in a pre-taped interview to say that he was coming for Kenny Omega next week.
  • The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana, & Ortiz) defeated Private Party and Darby Allin when Chris Jericho hit Isiah Kassidy with the Judas Effect. After the match, the Inner Circle beat down Darby Allin with his own skateboard before Jon Moxley made the save with a baseball bat.

Announced for this week:

This match was made last week when the Inner Circle attacked Moxley and Mox hit Ortiz. Moxley is the number one contender to Chris Jericho’s AEW title and will face him at AEW Revolution. Mox is yet to lose a singles match in AEW. While this is Ortiz’s first singles match in AEW.

It seems like a lock that the Inner Circle will make an appearance during or after this match to continue the issue between Moxley and Jericho.

It was a big surprise when Yuka Sakazaki was announced as making her return to AEW this week. Sakazaki was one of the breakout women’s stars at Double or Nothing and impressed at Fyter Fest, but had since returned to Japan and not been seen in AEW again. She has an 0-2 record overall and this is her first 1-on-1 match in AEW.

Britt Baker’s attitude has changed a lot in recent weeks and that attitude helped spur her to a win against Priscilla Kelly in her only 1-on-1 match of 2020. Britt ranks third in the latest AEW rankings.

For the first time in AEW, Adam Page will team with the Young Bucks. Page said last year that he didn’t want to be apart of the Elite, but Omega secured this match for the group to all team together. The ongoing issues of Page, Omega, and the Bucks is the most interesting thing going on in wrestling right now and this match holds a ton of intrigue.

The Butcher and the Blade lost last week and have a 2-2 overall record in AEW. They team with Pentagon & Fenix who are looking to get back in the mix for the AEW World Tag Team championship as they hold a win against Omega and Page.

This will be Cody’s first leg of the three stipulations needed to get a match with MJF at AEW Revolution. He will receive ten lashes from MJF and if he doesn’t take all ten, the match is off. - An All Elite Wrestling Fan Site
