AEW Dynamite Preview for January 29, 2020

What happened last week:

  • Kenny Omega & Adam Page defeated SCU (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The Young Bucks came out to celebrate with them, but Adam Page grabbed a beer and crowd surfed out instead.
  • Britt Baker defeated Priscilla Kelly by submission with the Lockjaw. After the match she cut a very heelish promo on Tony Schiavone, making fun of him for once working at Starbucks.
  • The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz) defeated The Jurassic Expres (Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy & Mark Stunt) when Jericho pinned Stunt after a Judas Effect.
  • MJF defeated Joey Janela with a Double Cross.
  • After the match MJF attempted to bait Cody into hitting him, but ended up with a double superkick from the Young Bucks and a trip in the pool.
  • Jon Moxley defeated PAC with the Paradigm Shift to become the #1 contender to the AEW World Championship.

Announced for this week:

Jon Moxley is the number one contender and that match will be taking place in less than five weeks at AEW Revolution. He’ll have a live microphone in the ring to begin the build of his first AEW World Championship title shot. Moxley is always fire on the microphone and he should be especially fired up since Jericho and the Inner Circle cost him an eye.

This will also be his return to his home state of Ohio for the first time since his WWE run ended.

Kip Sabian has been attempting to make a bigger name for himself in AEW of late as he’s teamed with Penelope Ford to make Joey Janela’s life a living hell. He is now setting his sights a bit higher as he challenges one of the top stars in AEW, Cody.

Cody has his match with MJF set for AEW Revolution as long as he completes the stipulations. He will receive 10 lashes from MJF on February 5th, wrestles in a cage match with Wardlow on February 19th, and can’t touch MJF between now and the 29th.

Last week, the Young Bucks threw MJF in the pool. This week, MJF is sending his henchmen after them. The Butcher & The Blade have a 2-1 overall record in AEW with wins over QT Marshall & Cody, and a six-man win with MJF over DDP, QT Marshall, and Dustin Rhodes.

The Young Bucks were ranked #3 in the most recent rankings and are looking for a win here to move back up in the rankings. They have just a 5-5 record as a tag team, but they have also had the toughest schedule of any team in AEW.

Darby Allin teams with Private Party to face off with the Inner Circle. Private Party holds a win over Santana & Ortiz and the Inner Circle is looking to avenge that here. While Darby Allin had the awesome title match with Chris Jericho where Jake Hager ended up causing him to lose.

Darby Allin is feeling the effects of his recent losses to Cody and PAC, and has winning firmly on his mind.

This is all that is announced thus far, but the Road to Cleveland video features Brandi Rhodes so we may be seeing her as well. This post will be updated if more is announced. - An All Elite Wrestling Fan Site
