AEW Dynamite #16 – Nassau, Bahamas – Norwegian Pearl  (cruise ship) – January 22, 2020

Kenny Omega & Adam Page defeated SCU (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

SCU hit SCU Later on Kenny Omega, but Page was able to break up the pin. Page then took out Sky and hit the Buckshot Lariat on Kazarian for the win. This was the first title change in AEW history. After the match the Young Bucks came out to celebrate, but Adam Page chose to drink a beer with the crowd and crowd surf out of there.

Britt Baker defeated Priscilla Kelly by submission with the Lockjaw.

After the match Tony Schiavone attempted to interview Britt, but she was very rude to him instead. She made fun of him for being a former Starbucks barista and then said that she was the hottest woman on the ship. She also revealed that she is a dentist.

The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz) defeated The Jurassic Expres (Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy & Mark Stunt) when Jericho pinned Stunt after a Judas Effect.

Marko Stunt got a couple of incredibly near falls against Jericho in this match and Luchasaurus really cleaned house at one point, but Jake Hager distracted Luchasaurus which led to Stunt getting hit with Jericho’s Judas Effect.

MJF defeated Joey Janela with a Double Cross.

Wardlow was not here this week as he is training for his cage match with Cody on February 19th. Janela had MJF set-up for a top rope elbow drop when Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford appeared on the stage to make out. This momentarily distracted Janela which lead to him getting hit with the Double Cross and getting the pin.

After the match, MJF got on the mic and responded to Cody’s promo from last week. This brought out Cody who was taunted by MJF as he reminded him of the stipulations for their AEW Revolution match and that he is not allowed to touch MJF. Cody said that he’s not allowed to touch MJF, but the Young Bucks are and the Bucks appeared behind him, hitting him with a double superkick. The Young Bucks then took MJF to the pool where they threw him in.

Tony Schiavone interviewed Adam Page and Kenny Omega about their title win. Page was drinking. Omega got most of the attention from Schiavone and he talked about facing PAC soon while Page’s comments kept getting interrupted. The Young Bucks came out which took more away attention away from Page. This lead to Page saying “I’m surprised we won these things before you guys did, to be honest” before walking away.

Jon Moxley defeated PAC with the Paradigm Shift to become the #1 contender to the AEW World Championship.

Moxley was wearing a bandage over one eye thanks to the attack from last week. These two brawled all over the ship during the match before making it back to the ring. PAC ended up removing the bandage and really focused on the injured eye before Mox rallied to hit a Paradigm Shift followed by a high-angle Paradigm Shift for the win.

After the match, Chris Jericho stared him down as the announcers stated this would be the AEW Revolution match.
