AEW Dynamite #18 – Huntsville, AL – VBC Arena – February 5, 2020

Jon Moxley defeated Ortiz with the Paradigm Shift.

Santana was at ringside during this match which was something that Moxley had to contend with throughout the match. This was Ortiz’s first singles match since 2016, but he performed well until he as hit with the Paradigm Shift. Santana then attacked Moxley, but also go hit with the Paradigm Shift. Moxley then pulled the Ford GT car keys out of his pocket and stabbed Santana in the eye, mouthing “eye for an eye” to Jericho who was on commentary. Mox then escaped through the crowd.

SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) defeated Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent) when Kazarian hit the Strong Zero.

After the match, the Dark Order came out and attacked everyone. Orange Cassidy then entered the ring and was offered a mask, but he just put his hands in his pockets. The Dark Order attacked him as well which brought out Christopher Daniels. The Dark Order did not attack him and just walked away.

Yuka Sakazaki defeated Dr. Britt Baker with a roll-up.

Britt went for the Lockjaw, but Yuka was able to make a quick counter for her first win in AEW. Britt Baker went and grabbed the ring bell and hit Yuka with it. She did a stomp on Yuka as her mouth was on the bottom rope and Yuka appeared to lose a tooth. Britt then applied the Lockjaw in her bloody mouth before leaving.

The Butcher and The Blade and Lucha Bros. defeated The Elite when Pentagon pinned Adam Page after hitting him with the Package Piledriver/Double Stomp.

From the start of this match, Hangman Page was not happy to be there. The Elite group came out to the “Being the Elite” theme song, but he did not wait for the pyro and just stormed to the ring and waited for the other members of his team. The action in this match was as wild as expected. At one point the Bucks set up for a Superkick Party, but Page tagged himself in. Later in the match, Page would have the match nearly won before tweaking his knee. He went to tag out to Kenny while the opponents were still down, but Omega was pulled off the apron. The Bucks then appeared to accept the tag, but Page told them that he had this and went to finish it himself. He did not have it.

Tony Schiavone attempted to interview Kenny Omega in the ring, but they were interrupted by PAC backstage. PAC interrupted a Riho interview and implied that something might happen to her if Omega didn’t accept the rematch. Kenny quickly accepted, but PAC said that he wouldn’t hit a woman as he is a “bastard, not a beast.” Which lead to Nyla Rose coming out of the back and attacking Riho. It was later announced that Riho would face Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s championship next week while Kenny Omega and PAC will face off in a 30-Minute Iron Man match in three weeks.

A video is sent in by Darby Allin. He is unable to speak, but he has a cardboard cutout of Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevera that he shoots with a flame flower. Seriously.

Kip Sabian defeated Joey Janela with a roll-up.

Penelope Ford was highly involved in this match and eventually was involved in the finish. She kissed Sabian on the ring apron and was standing there when Janela attacked, Sabian ducked and Joey hit her which allowed Sabian to make the roll up with the tights.

The Inner Circle was interviewed backstage and they promised to come for Moxley next week. Jericho was going on about that type of man that would go after another man’s eye when Santana snapped and said that Moxley has unleashed something in him and that he’s coming for him next week.

The Young Bucks confronted Adam Page about the match backstage. Matt said he was going to ask what Page’s problem is, but he thinks he knows and took away the cup of beer Hangman was holding. When the Bucks walked away, Page took a sip out of a pitcher of beer.

Cody received his ten lashes from MJF in the main event segment of the show. MJF used Cody’s own leather belt to whip him. As the lashes went on and Cody’s pain grew, his friends came out to support him and give him encouragement The ninth lash was given by Wardlow and was especially devastating and it seemed like Cody might not be able to take another.

This brought out Brandi, the non-Nightmare Collective version, who cheered him to take the final one. MJF delivered it right on Cody’s Dream tattoo, the tattoo he got in memory of his father. Cody’s friends and family came into the ring to help him up and MJF, frustrated at not getting Cody to quit or hit him, kicked Cody low and ran out through the crowd.
